Catapult Project
Catapult Project
This week we will be applying what we have learned about force and motion to make marshmallow catapults. This page will have updates throughout the week about our design process.
Step 1 – Research & Brainstorming
This week we will be applying what we have learned about force and motion to make marshmallow catapults. This page will have updates throughout the week about our design process.
Step 1 – Research & Brainstorming
- Watch some catapult videos
- Search on KidRex to find information on how to make a catapult
- The website below is an excellent resource!
- Then you will sketch two different prototypes for a catapult using the catapult brainstorming page.
Watch these great videos!
Step 2 – Group Planning
Next, you will share your sketches with the people in your group. Make sure you listen and collaborate with each other. You will work together to design your team catapult and think of the materials you will need.
Step 3 – Build Your Catapult
Once your plan had been approved, you will work together to build your catapult. If something isn’t working, you may need to change your plan.
Step 4 – Test and Modify
When you are finished building, you will need to test your catapult to see how far the marshmallow goes and how accurate it is. Use the Trials and Modifications Checklist to make sure your catapult is the best it can be!
Step 5 – Present Your Catapult
Finally, your team will explain how you built your catapult and then you will show the class how it works!
